Welcome to my website . . . . Here is a little information about me.
    Dan James - age 70
Born and raised in Brent, Alabama
    Retired:
    Graduated: Auburn '59
I used to hunt and fish!
Farmer (cotton - corn - soybeans)
Rancher (Commercial cross bred beef cattle)
Avid conservationist (and I didn't say preservationist)
    Forest manager
(predominately pine, walnut, and oak plantations)
Currently raise game chickens, purebred bantams,
    doves and pigeons
    I've had Game chickens for a couple of years . . .
Next came the doves . . . now (less than a year).
My Saddle Homers came a few months ago from
Richard Haas. There are three presently here.
I have a mated pair: black cock and lace opal hen.
An opal cock rounds out the trio. All young birds!
Next week there is a blue hen to be shipped from
New York to match up with the opal cock.
Have not been successful in finding any
Saddle Homers Locally. I'm still trying. Hope to attend
a show in Ft. Payne, Alabama this fall. (Never attended one before; may buy some birds, but probably will
not try to show any there.) Oct. 26 & 27 2007 (Fri & Sat) Louisville Kentucky YB National a show I'd like to
take in provided I can get additional information about it!
And now . . . 'the rest of the story'.
"I'm just an old 'has been'; backing down a bit now. Spend a lots of time concentrating on my few Saddle
Homers. Have had a lots of different titles with various and assorted entities, didn't none of 'em pay worth
a cuss. Was Scoutmaster of a Boy Scout Troop several decades ago. Currently hold an Amateur Extra
license from the Federal Communications Commission (thus the NU4A in my e-mail address). You can
just call me 'a ham' radio operator. I play the dulcimer some and enjoy the mood it brings back from days
of my youth. Modern 'Blue Grass' has wandered away from the older style I thrived on from yester-year.
I currently hold membership in the Alabama Pigeon Club and Saddle Homers USA. Have found lots folks
have a bunch of different kinds of pigeons. I keep only one . . .
    Thank you just the same.
Always looking for a few of the 'right kind' . . . and I'm hard to please."
